Health Risks of Being Overweight
Being overweight is not just a physical issue. Being overweight is a concern that runs deeper than merely the problem of having so many tight fitting jeans that make breathing impossible when you wear them. It’s not simply a matter of looking in the mirror and being horrified to note that you’ve already got a double chin and that your cheeks are becoming way too wide than what they used to look like. The issue of being overweight runs deeper than its superficial aspect.
More than just being conscious of how you look when you are overweight or obese, you should consider the health implication it brings on top of everything else. There are a lot potential of health risks involved when a person becomes overweight to the point of obesity. One of the most general effects is that you will notice fatigue creeping in easily and you can no longer engage in rigorous activities as fluidly as you used to. But this is just the simplest of the health issues being attributed with becoming overweight and obese. There are plenty more other serious health risks that can happen when you’re overweight. Listed below is a small list of potential health hazards that routinely accompany the extra mass on your body.
1. Stroke – This is perhaps the most common of the fatal blows that can result from being overweight. A stroke occurs when a blood shortage happens and therefore there’s not enough supply which goes right onto the brain to make the brain cells function. When blood circulation onwards the brain gets blocked, the cells cannot function normally because the oxygen and other brain nutrients are not jumpstarted without the blood resulting in a stroke. Strokes can be fatal because it can affect the normal motor functions of the person forever.
2. Heart Attack – This is another common critical health crisis known to occur upon the onset of being overweight. Most people attribute heart attacks with too much fat intake because the veins and the arteries get blocked with the fatty substance, therefore hampering the normal flow of blood throughout the body and the heart. In addition, being overweight can also cause high blood pressure that leads to heart attack. High blood pressure happens because the heart sometimes has to work overtime for people who are overweight. The heart becomes obliged to double its work to reach far more places and body mass that has been added to the person’s body.
3. Diabetes – Diabetes is both a genetic disease and an illness that can be developed. There’s no cure for it once it happens and must only be properly regulated. With diabetes, the person’s blood sugar level has to be monitored regularly to make sure that it does not become fatal. Being overweight can be a result of eating too much food rich in sugar and starches which not only contribute to increase of fat in the body but also enhance the scale of the blood sugar and produce diabetes.
4. Osteoarthritis – This is a condition that overweight people experience because of the added weight in their body. The joints experience added pressure because of the additional weight and it can also wear out the bone’s cartilage. This usually affects the hips, lower back, and the knees.

It is not that being overweight you will always land with a disease, you will have issues with social activities like:
1. If you are unmarried then good luck in finding the right partner.
2. People at public spaces will have tough time in adjusting with you.
3. If you are a kid or in school then you can’t participate in group activities.
